Comparing Gilgamesh and Odysseus :: Compare Contrast Comparison
Gilgamesh and Odysseus are two saints from two distinctive timeframes that were both looking for the significance of life. The legends that the two characters are highlighted in Gilgamesh, was created from early Mesopotamia and the Odyssey in early Greece. Gilgamesh was a well known and it was truly important to the antiquarian of Mesopotamian culture since it uncovers much about the strict world, for example, their perspectives toward the divine beings, how a saint was characterized and respected, sees about death and kinship. The Odyssey was additionally extremely well known in itââ¬â¢s time. It was set in antiquated Greece where in its way of life; folklore was the core of regular day to day existence. The Greek Culture went to folklore to clarify various marvels for which they had no logical clarification and this was conspicuous in the epic the Odyssey. While planning to compose this paper, I figured it would be incredible just to concentrate on the saints of these two extraordinary stories numerous distinctions. Despite the fact that over the span of my exploration I found that they additionally had similarly the same number of similitudes. In this paper I will concentrate on the two characters by communicating their disparities, just as their similitudes, and I will likewise give a touch of history about our two saints. Gilgamesh, the saint from the epic Gilgamesh, was the verifiable lord of Uruk in Babylonia, on the stream Euphrates in current Iraq: he lived about 2700B.C. Odysseus, the saint from the epic the Odysseus, was the leader of the island realm of Ithaca. He was one of the most unmistakable Greek pioneers of the Trojan War. Both of these men were allowed sure qualities, Gilgamesh had physical, while Odysseus had mental qualities. Gilgamesh was a fearless and on occasion that self-assurance prompted him to have little empathy for the individuals of Uruk at he start of the story. He was their ruler, however not their defender; he executes their children and assaults their little girls. He sensed that he was better than others because of the way that he was 66% god, his mom was a goddess Ninsun and 33% human. This reality is the way in to the entirety of his activities. This is likewise what separates him from the legend Odysseus. While Gilgamesh was a saint thought to be increasingly delightful, progressively brave, more frightening than the entirety of the individuals of Uruk. Despite the fact that his wants, qualities, and achievements were similarly as thereââ¬â¢s, he was as yet mortal.

Monopolistic Competition and Effective Demand
Question: Examine about the Monopolistic Competition and Effective Demand. Answer: Presentation: The blemished rivalry where there is presence of a couple of makers selling separated items in the market in known as monopolistic rivalry (Nikaido, 2015). As the items are separated, subsequently they can't be immaculate substitutes. The market for monopolist items has the accompanying qualities. They are: Separation of items Presence of various firms There is no obstruction in the section or exit of firms Defective data Intensity of taking autonomous choice (Assenza et al., 2015) There are not many firms that show the monopolistic nature in the economy. The espresso business, chain of eateries and industry for refreshments are the couple of ventures that display this nature of monopolistic market. Both these industry produces various items in the market (Bertoleti Epifani, 2014). State there can be contrast between Brazilian espresso and espresso bought from South India. So also two unique eateries offer various foods to their clients and thus show the monopolistic nature. In this answer the idea of regular syndication has been intricately examined after from the point of view of the espresso business in Australia. Foundation of the business: Australias espresso industry was first revived during the 1980s after its breakdown during the 1800s. Over the ongoing years the nation has seen colossal development in their espresso industry. The people groups love for the hot drink causes the caffeine business to develop in jumps and bound (Adams et al., 2016). The nation has unique preference for solid espresso and moment fermenting espresso. As indicated by Senior Consumer Analyst Niraj Lalka, Australias love for this caffeine item developed with its presentation in the nation by the vagrants of Europe. Be that as it may, the European were more habituated at having solid mixers of espresso though the Australian lean toward their espresso blended in with milk and new cream. The caffeine business inside the nation in the most recent decade saw huge development and is required to become further. Be that as it may, as opposed to this situation, the celebrated American caffeine brand, Starbucks saw confronted serious accident in thei r development portfolio in Australia (Wong, 2014). As indicated by the investigation on the industrys development and pattern it has been seen that the nation is anticipate an expansion in their income by 6.9%. The normal income that the nation predicts to acquire in the year 2016-17 is $5.5 billion (ibisworld.com.au, 2015). Additionally the individuals have been slanted towards this beverage as it lessens their extent of early demise. As per an overview on wellbeing it has been seen that ordinary consumer of espresso and other caffeine items has lower danger of death by means of type 2 diabetes, heart issues, self destruction and neurological sickness. The appropriate response presently centers around the monopolistic highlights of this industry and its effect on the economy. Key highlights with model: The monopolistic market is where there is presence of countless venders who produces comparative sort of merchandise and enterprises with a touch of item separation to make their items all the more engaging in the market. As of now talked about over the espresso business shows this nature, we presently take a gander at the various brands that are being favored in the nation. Additionally not at all like the impeccably serious market the different brands in this market has singular state and control (Stiglitz Rosengard, 2015). Among the various kinds of merchants in the market there are many specific brands that are answerable for selling espresso inside the entire of Australia. Starbucks espresso, Frisco-Bay, Gloria Jeans, Seatles Best espresso, Green mountain espresso, Maxwell house and Folgers are not many named to be referenced in this regard. This diverse brand diminishes the centralization of intensity inside the business. The organizations gain short-run financial benefits. In any case, under this monopolistic circumstance the organizations are not ensured with long haul benefit, rather it tends to be said that there is no such benefit in the market of monopolistic rivalry. Conduct of firm and effect on shopper: The conduct of the organizations under the monopolistic market can be appeared in two sections, the short run stage and the since quite a while ago run stage. The outline underneath helps in clarifying the situation: In the outline above it is seen that the monopolistic firm in the short run gains benefit. The amount of products and administration provided by the monopolist is chosen at the crossing purpose of negligible income and minimal cost bend (case, Fair Oster, 2012). Despite the fact that the monopolistic firm is described by a couple of dealers yet at the same time the firm can't charge any arbitrary value like the imposing business model firm. This is on the grounds that each firm creates comparative merchandise with little item separation and increment in cost of one great may incite the buyers to switch over their decisions and expends different brands. So here in this chart we see that the short run benefit of the espresso business with monopolistic nature has benefit equivalent to the upper square shape as set apart in the graph. This graph shows the monopolistic firm over the long haul. The firm boosts their creation by selling at where MC =MR. Past this point, creation suggests misfortune as the expense is more noteworthy than the income. Indeed, even over the long haul the monopolistic firm can't accomplish the allocative proficiency as appeared by point B in the figure where MC= advertise cost. So under this situation the firm can gain just typical benefit in the economy. The ordinary benefit is where the firm simply has the ability to get by in the market by having their all out income equivalents to add up to costs. As the organizations can't arbitrarily charge any value they need banished by their cost requirement, thus the purchasers are in an ideal situation in this circumstance than in complete restraining infrastructure. The presence of numerous quantities of firm guarantees that individuals has a wide assortment to look over and this gives them the ability to make an effect available cost too. Adani mining bunch has wanted to put resources into a venture of warm coal mineshaft. As per e report of 2014, the auxiliary gathering has intended to contribute a mess of $16.5 billion in the task of Galilee Basin (abc.net.au. 2016). The organization has an arrangement to make this undertaking as the greatest mining venture of Australia just as one of the main mines on the planet. The organization focuses to deliver around 60 million tons of coal every year from this mine. Be that as it may, no task is pareto ideal. On the off chance that it has been pareto ideal it would have just been executed at this point and not left over for the Adani Wilmar gathering to do as such. The expense related with this venture influences the organization as well as influences nature, the individuals and the economy in general. The negative effects can be suggested as the negative externality of the business. Here through this answer it has been attempted to concentrate on the externalities related wi th the venture. Antagonistic externality is a financial matters term which implies the misfortune or adverse effect on a people, gathering or society in general because of an exchange in the economy (Henderson, 2014). In other word, in the event that anybody other than the maker and purchaser get influenced by the creation and utilization process then it is negative externality. It is appeared as follows: The administration of Australia has been intense with this venture of Coal mine. On other hand Larissa Waters, Senator of the Greens pronounces this has been a rushed activity of the legislature with no far-sight related with it. The issues related with the mines are as per the following: quick effect on air contamination, water contamination and long haul sway on human wellbeing and biological system (Morrice Colaguri, 2013). The negative externality can be decreased by exacting guidelines set by the more significant position authority of the legislature. Hardly any means that they can take are as per the following: The absolute initial step that administration can take is to guarantee exacting property rights and deny the organization to utilize the land in building up the business that has high hazard related with it (Betz, 2015). In specific cases the legislature can't resist the opportunity to permit the business to develop because of a few reasons. In such cases there are different methods of managing the market. The legislature should take a stab at contributing on ventures that includes development of sustainable power source. These days the entire world is attempting to move their vitality use into the sustainable sort. Putting resources into this division can have more noteworthy long haul positive effect on the economy by producing work, lessening contamination and making a general improved way of life. They can set licenses and portions past which the business can't contaminate the nation (Betz et al., 2015). Elevated level of expenses can be forced on per unit of contamination brought about by the firm with the goal that the firm lessens their contamination emanation to diminish their expense of creation. The legislature can likewise help the influenced individuals by giving even better modest wellbeing offices and appropriations in the wellbeing division. These endowments can be gathered from burdening the polluters vigorously. References: Adams, B., Gans, J., Hayes, R., Lampe, R. (2016).Does Organizational Form Drive Competition? Sure, you know sales exist, but are you a sales expert? Because we talked to some sales experts and they have advice for you.PR executive Amanda Maxwell (@amkmaxwell) told us her a pproach: âI always try to wait for sales first of all. Depending on what store you are at, almost everything drops to sale after the first three initial weeks of the item being on the rack. I also wait for special promotion days when you can get extra percentages off. Another trick is signing up for an email for a specific store. Most companies offer a 15-30 percent off coupon when you sign up for their emails for the first time! So always look! Or have your friend sign up.âRachel DâRuan a stylist with TRUE Model Management (@TrueModelMgt), offered her own sales advice: âI always advise clients to purchase what they may need when theres a sale instead of waiting until they need it. My go-to is Chicmi.com because the platform has the most up-to-date list of sample sales as well as fashion events and online fashion sales. Each fashion trend lasts at least three seasons (16 months) and each also makes a come back every few years; thus, when quality products are purchased, they could last a lifetime!âKnow when to shop. You should always be on the lookout for sales. They can strike at any timeâ"like lightning that saves you money. But there are also more consistent rules you can follow to save money when shopping for clothes. The tides of shopping, rather than the lightning.âOne way that I have found is to buy clothes out of season,â advised Alayna Pehrson, digital marketing strategist for BestCompany.com (@BestCompanyUSA). âAlthough this may mean that you cant wear it right after you buy it, youll have it to wear for the appropriate season AND you will definitely save money. There is a month-by-month guide that I found to be pretty helpful when trying to figure out which items are cheapest during which month of the year: http://time.com/money/4190173/month-guide-best-time-buy-everything/âAnd know where to shop.Every reporter knows the 5 âWâs: Who, What, When, Where, and Why. Weâve already answered the Who, What, When, and Why (you, affordab le clothes, off-season, and so you donât end up with bad credit) so now itâs time to talk about the âWhere.âMaxwell shared some of her favorite affordable options: âThere is also the obvious [choice] of shopping at discount stores like Saks Off Fifth or Nordstrom Rack where they offer clothing from their main stores at a discounted price. Theres always a rack of damaged stuff (etc missing a button) thats AMAZING and totally unnoticeable. You can find amazing deals there and they take an extra 40 percent off usually.âAnother perk I LOVE to use and has become even more amazing over the last few years, is to shop secondhand. There are so many avenues and websites to go now from eBay to Tradsey, to local clothing resale stores. Here in New York we have amazing secondhand shops with stuff that people have never even worn! Marked from $800 to $100! If you buy online from eBay its also tax free! Dont forget this method also applies to you selling your old stuff! This allows you to make some money and save on getting new clothing. Its a win win!âYou should also check out coupon sites. As Pehrson told us, âAnother way to save money when buying clothes is to search for online coupons. Sites like coupons.com, retailmenot, and Groupon are some great places to find online clothing coupons.âPersonal finance expert Kayla Sloan (@kaylarsloan) also has a site she relies on for fashion deals: âMy biggest secret for looking great for less is using online thrift stores, like ThredUp.com. I always wait until they offer a coupon code for 10 percent off (or more) or free shipping. I also re-sell my clothes there after Im finished with them so I can use my store credit to refresh my wardrobe. ThredUp is my favorite way to get brand name clothes for less!âSome more tips for style on a budget!Weâve got even more tips for you to use! Need something for a one-time event? âFor special occasions, I would recommend renting an outfit (dress, tux, etc),â Pehrson su ggested. âThis will keep your credit, closet, and conscience clear as you will most likely only use that outfit once.âShe also had another good tip for keeping your spending in check: âA great way to not build up bad credit while shopping for clothes is to only use cash. With cash, there is no temptation to break out the credit card and spend more. Make sure to limit the cash you carry depending on your clothing budget.âGot a big social media following? DâRuan says you might be able to use it to your advantage: âIf you are an aspiring fashionista, stop by stores like Dreams on Air and Flying Solo. Designers from curated fashion incubators dont have the budget for top PR services or advertisement so they are more than likely to lend clothes to social influencers (10K+ IG followers) in return for free publicity. I can share more on this approach but it is as simple as filling out a âpullâ form, which also asks for credit card info and duration of the pull. As long as t he items are returned in their original condition, you can rock clothes off the runway from fashion week for free!âLooking for affordable stockings? Vienne Cheung, founder of VienneMilano (@VienneMilano) filled us in on her wares: âIn a nutshell, the best way to save money and look fashionable is to shop for affordable luxury brands. For example, for women, instead of spending $50-100 for a pair of stockings, hip and young professionals can shop at VienneMilano.com all of our products are made in Italy. Since VienneMilano is a small business that does not carry extra overhead cost, we can afford to offer fabulous and luxurious products to our customers at an affordable price. Our made in Italy stockings only cost $19.95 for a pair of hosiery, which is significantly less than some of our competitors who sell at $50 for a pair of stockings.âFinally, Okera Banks (@OkeraBanks), celebrity stylist and founder of OTG Essentials, told us how you can switch things up without having to get a whole new wardrobe: âYou can have a hip wardrobe without driving yourself into bad credit or bad debt. I call that living within your means, as you maintain your needs.âThe most important thing to do is first look at your day to day lifestyle and plan out your week. Create a budget that is realistic and include future spending. The idea here is to save, which means you may have to take advantage of discounts, warehouse sales, or outlets stores like Nordstroms Rack, who offer great products below market value and even online shopping opportunities.âI always tell people who are creating a hip wardrobe or who are transitioning into a new look to review your current wardrobe and add cool accent and statement pieces for extra flare without having to completely replace your closet. And purchase items that are interchangeable and transitional, that way they can be worn for business, travel, business casual, fun, or cocktails.âThe idea is being a conservative shopper while be ing stylish and having a sense of duality with each purchase to accommodate your lifestyle. An essential garment piece is one that can create more than 3 good looks.âTake all of these tips, and before you know it youâll have a whole new look and a whole new improved credit score.ContributorsOkera Banks (@OkeraBanks) is a Los Angeles based designer and celebrity stylist to some of Hollywoodâs elite. Outline Of A Persuasive Outline Essay - 1190 Words
Persuasive Outline Generic Topic: Continuation of Gratuity Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to support the continuation of tipping (in restaurants). Introduction I. Many times my family has gone out to restaurants, having nice experiences. Other visits not so much. One outing in particular, my family and I ate out at an upscale French restaurant in Virginia. The food was good. However, my dad left a small tip for the level of service provided by our snobby waitress. Leaving the restaurant, we heard a ââ¬Å"Sir! Excuse me, Sir.â⬠Our waitress hurried across the parking lot in effort to catch up with us. She asked, ââ¬Å"Did I do something wrong?â⬠In which dad replied, ââ¬Å"No, you didnââ¬â¢t do anything wrong, why?â⬠She hastily replied, ââ¬Å"The tip. The tip,â⬠upset with the amount left. II. As a recent employee in the restaurant industry, first as a hostess and later as a waitress, I have had the opportunity to experience the system of tipping not just from a customerââ¬â¢s point of view. III. The majority of the population dines out at restaurants at one time or another facing the art of tipping at some point in their life, unless they prefer fast food. IV. The elimination of tipping would create chaos within the service industry for both customers and servers V. Gay Marriage And Its Slow Progression Of Acceptance
With the recent legalization of gay marriage and its slow progression of acceptance in society, sexuality is a subject that plays a huge role in daily life and is becoming a common and prominent theme in society as more time passes. According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation refers to the sex or sexual interest to whom one is sexually and romantically attracted to. Heterosexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality are the three mostly familiar categories of sexual orientation for a typical person, and these sexualities make up for 98.9% of the sexual orientation among American adults (Ward 1, et al). But what about the other 1.1% of sexualities? Changes in Politics Dbq Free Essays
Kailas Samaha APUSH Kirts 7 October 25, 12 Changes In Politics The United States of America is a country known primarily for being founded upon the principles of equality, and liberty. An aspiration the nation has always been centered upon is creating an equal basis for each individual inhabiting the United States. The nation has always taken a great sense of pride in the voting system it possesses, but unfortunately there was a time when this glorified system was not available to the public. We will write a custom essay sample on Changes in Politics Dbq or any similar topic only for you Order Now After the war of 1812 came to an end the public began to discuss the topic of voting heavily. The most significant changes in participation in both political campaigns and elections in the United States took place within the years of 1815 to 1840; and this was because of a dramatic change in activism, as well as a dramatic increase in the level of campaigning. Within the years of 1815 and 140, political activism grew immensely within the United States. Although compared to present day, the amount of voters is comparable to nothing, for the time period having almost 27 percent of the inhabitants of the United States able to vote, was ground breaking. 25 years later the amount of individuals that were entitled to voting rights increased over 50 percent, leaving the grand total at 80 percent of inhabitants were entitled to vote. (Doc. A) An outcome of a grand increase of voters, was a grand increase of political views and sentiments regarding not one, but many different issues within the political realm of the nation. Although most individuals whom were granted the right to vote saw it is as extremely positive change in all aspects, there were few who viewed the concept of voting as a chaotic concept, they stated ââ¬Å"the tendency of universal suffrage is to jeopardize the rights of property and the principals of libertyâ⬠(Doc. B) This quote states that everyone having the right to vote, puts the rights people have to their individual property in jeopardy, as well as the basic principals of liberty the nation is founded upon. Some on the other hand, were opposed to the idea of voting as a nation because they believed it opened a door to catastrophe due to the immense amount of conflicting viewpoints. Although, the people that had the mentality of creating fiasco were few and far between, most thought, ââ¬Å"Political combinations between the inhabitants of different states are unavoidableâ⬠(Doc. C) This quote reinforces the idea that the ââ¬Å"combination ââ¬Å" of political outlooks was unavoidable, especially outside of ones home state. Opposing viewpoints proved to be rare within individuals from the same regions, whereas contrasting notions proved to be mostly within the North of the nation, and the South. By individuals being granted the privilege to vote, they did not only gain a ballot, but they gained a voice in their countries, which gave them a feeling of belonging and importance. Given this voice was stated ââ¬Å"By the authority of that political liberty which has been promised to us equally with our fellow men, solemnly publish and declareâ⬠¦ ââ¬Å"that we are, of right ought to be,â⬠entitled to equal means to obtain equal moral happiness,â⬠(Doc. E) This quote entails that with the right to a political voice comes the basic right to the pursuit of happiness, distributed equally within all people. Regardless of the common celebration that came hand in hand with the right to vote, came also the inevitable impact that a large amount of political disagreements had on voting. Inevitably, approximately have of the United States were in accordance with one candidate, and half with the other. A firm supporter of mister John Quincy Adams stated ââ¬Å"When I first arrived in America Mr. John Quincy Adams was president, and it was impossible to doubt, even from the statement of his enemies, that he was every way calculated to do honor to the office. â⬠(Doc. F) This quote shows one of the many strong political views that were displayed within the United States in regard the presidential candidates. Although at the time the large quantity of controversy seemed like a negative thing, it played a massive role in the way political candidates campaigned, therefor an entirely new era of campaigning was sprung upon the nation. Within the years of 1815 and 1840, more specifically halfway between both, revolutionary and drastic forms of campaigning became common within political campaigns. Candidates were familiar with the idea of identifying with the ââ¬Å"peoplesâ⬠, a word frequently used to establish somewhat more of an intimate connection (Doc D. ) This word was used not only to establish an intimate connection, but also to establish a sense of trust and support. Another way candidates would identify with the voters would be to be depicted doing things that any common man would enjoy doing. An example of this is portrayed when candidate Harrison is shown standing alongside a barrel of hard cider, a common drink amongst the population of the United States. Harrison states that he is bringing a feel of ââ¬Å"hospitalityâ⬠to the country as depicted in the advertisement. (Doc. I) This advertisement portrays Harrison as ââ¬Å"one with the middle classâ⬠, which was an important tactic brought fourth in the era of 1815-1840. Another key element in the uproar of campaigning and voting was the increase of media coverage relating to the elections. In the year of 1810 the idea of press covering political America was rare, but by the year 1835 the amount of newspapers that did such had tripled in quantity. The reason media coverage proved itself to be so important was because it was extremely influential in the eyes of the general public, seeing as it gave them inside views to knowledge of the national problems at hand. The participation that was shown by not only candidates, but the general public in both campaigns and voting within the years 1815 to 1840 proved to be revolutionary and extremely influential in the turn out of the United States. The monumental rise in the participation of the people in political standpoints layed down the base for the idea of liberty within the nation; the idea that every member of the country was entitled to their own beliefs, and entitled to portraying them publically. The ideologies established within the 1815 to 1840 era changed the modern world significantly due to activism in the general public. How to cite Changes in Politics Dbq, Essay examples

Their Eyes Were Watching God Essays (869 words) -
Their Eyes Were Watching God Lovely People Do Stupid Things How is love to influence our lives? Love-struck people do crazy things to express how they care for that particular person yet it is a long and windy road to these actions. It is down this path that experience spawns and trouble and happiness are felt. Janie Crawford of Zora Neale Hurstons Their Eyes Were Watching God, shows the road through the steps of her three relationships. These relationships, though not fulfilling ones, conclude in bettering Janies search and understanding of life. Johnny Taylor, Janies first kiss and gatekeeper to her future, When Janie was sixteen, she embarked on a sexual awakening. Johnny Taylor was a poor young man who lived in the Florida area. Janie allowed him to kiss her over the fence. Unfortunately, Nanny saw everything. With Nannys horrendous background of sinful deeds done to her, she wanted the best for Janie. As she saw the kiss, the doors of life opened for Janie and Nanny wasnt going to have her make the same mistakes that she had. Yet, Nanny had been impregnated under the circumstances of being a slave and this was not the case for Janie. Nanny stated that black women were the mules of the world, but she didn't want Janie to be a mule. She wanted to see Janie in a secure situation before she died, and Logan Killicks could provide that. Janie did not want to marry Logan, but she did so because Nanny told her that she would eventually come to love him. Ironically, Logan wanted to force Janie into the servitude that Nanny feared. Also, he was disappointed that Janie never returned his affection and attraction. If he could not possess her through love, he would possess her by demanding her submission. At heart, his actions arose from the fear that Janie would leave him. Two months after her marriage to Logan, Janie visited Nanny to ask when she would start loving him. Nanny berated Janie for not appreciating Logan's wealth. Although Logan pampered Janie for a year, he began complaining that she was spoiled. That night, Logan criticized Janie for being spoiled and lazy. Janie voiced his deepest fears when she suggested that she might leave him. Logan reminded her of her family's reputation, hoping to hurt her feelings. Turning to these drastic of measures blew Janie into a frenzy and she left with a smooth-talking gentl eman that very next day. Janie chose to leave Logan for Jody because he revived her dreams of love in marriage. Her first marriage had taught her that marriage and love do not go hand in hand. However, she still believed that love was the best motivation for marriage. Jody promised that he would never turn Janie into a common pack mule. He promised her that she would reap all the benefits of his work. His words eerily echo Nanny's dream of respectability and financial security for Janie. However, Janie didn't marry Jody because of these promises. She married him because he inspired the feelings she had experienced while sitting under the blossoming peach tree when she was sixteen and the moment her womanhood became crystal clear. Ironically, Janie's marriage to Jody was the very embodiment of Nanny's dreams for her. Unlike Logan, he did not make her a pack mule. He gave her financial security and respectability. However, the marriage was largely an unhappy union. Janie could not be herself around Jody. Moreover, Jody still used Janie as a garbage even though he gave her wealth and respectability. So it seems that Nanny's worst fears and her highest hopes were realized in Janie's second marriage. It was until one afternoon in the store that she met a lofty yet handsome young man who went, strangely enough, by the name of Tea Cake. Tea Cake's courtship was different from that of Logan and Jody. Janie's first marriage was more of a contract of sale between Nanny and Logan than anything else. Janie's second marriage was an escape from the first one. Moreover, it was based on disappointed dreams. Jody courted her by talking about himself and his dreams. Tea Cake, on the other hand, pursued Janie with a more romantic
